About

Gabrielle Mia Paul is an emerging artist living and working in Cornwall. Alongside her own daily painting practice, she is currently studying Painting with Open University’s College of Arts.

She is most drawn to oil paint and loves to make large paintings on canvas that reflect the beauty and awe found in nature, specifically Cornwall, Tuscany and Andalucia. She is drawn to moving light, warmth and layered landscapes such as rolling hills, cliff edges and seascapes.

During her time at Falmouth University studying Fine Art, she fell in love with the cornish landscape and chose to make Cornwall her home, with plans to relocate to Andalucia in coming years.

Her painting practice focuses on observation, water colour studies and large scale studio based work.

Artist Statement

As a person of dual heritage, I’ve spent much of my life seeking a sense of belonging—searching for identity across cultures and landscapes. In that search I’ve discovered a profound love for the earth and for the quiet ways it communicates with us through shifting light, changing skies, and the language of colour. These everyday moments hold something spiritual for me—glimpses of connection, beauty, and awe.

Much of my current work is inspired by the Cornish coastline, where I live and create. There is so much raw beauty found in the landscape and a fleeting magic in the colours that dance across the sky and sea. Throughout my time here I have encountered moments that feel both mystical and profoundly rooted in something ancient and alive.

Creating art is, for me, an act of gratitude and reverence. It begins when I immerse myself in nature and allow it to move through me. The process is intuitive, emotional, and rooted in stillness. Through each piece, I try to honour the land, the light, and the quiet magic that shapes our days.
